How to choose an AI animation studio
A practical checklist for brands and IP owners choosing an AI animation studio: performance, bibles, language masters, and ownership.

What you are actually buying
You are not buying a model. You are buying a character that can act next quarter, a world that does not change faces, and a team that will still pick up the phone when episode twelve is late.
Ask any AI animation studio for a performance test of the same hero in three emotions, then ask them to match it two weeks later. If they cannot, you do not have a studio. You have a demo.
Bible or it did not happen
A real studio can show a character bible: silhouette, acting notes, color, language rules, and what the world forbids. If the only artifact is a folder of pretty stills, you will rebuild the hero every time a new artist or model arrives.
Language is a master, not a dub
If your first audience is Arabic-speaking, the master should be Arabic. Lip-sync, idiom, and joke timing belong in that language. The same is true in reverse. Studios that treat translation as a checkbox will give you a second-rate version in the market you care about.
Ownership in writing
Who owns the character after delivery? Who can train on the footage? Who can make a toy? If the contract is vague, you are renting a costume. The Imagination Company is explicit because we also own worlds ourselves — we know what it feels like to lose one.
Velocity with gates
Weeks, not years, is possible when review gates are real: bible, first performance, boards, lock. Speed without gates is sludge. Gates without speed is a traditional studio with extra invoices.
A short list of questions
- Can you reproduce this character's acting next month?
- What is the master language?
- What do we own?
- Who is the creative director on the show, by name?
- What happens in episode ten?
If the answers are marketing, keep walking. If they are operational, you may have found an AI animation studio.
